He who said Jesus was no longer relevant… lied. Popular culture says otherwise.
I saw ‘bling Jesus’ whilst meandering the streets of Soho one day, and was reminded of how art, dependant on the eye of the beholder, is always an equivocal reflection of the society in which it is rendered.
So… ‘bling Jesus’; the brazen blasphemy of which symbolises a godless pit of decay, deviance and decadence – to some. Others may observe an exquisite irony camouflaged by the philosophical robes of artistic license. Either way, Jesus is still relevant! As pop culture icon or Lord and Saviour (or a bit of both); He matters.
It’s social commentary paraphrased through the imagination of art.
