What are we reading?

The Public Lending Right recently revealed the country’s library lending figures, which suggest that even though libraries may be closing people are still borrowing books.

I am sure psychologists and sociologists will have a fabulous time analysing trends and coming up with some comment about individuals and society based on the type of books being read. I just had a quick browse of the data and what jumped – no leaped – out at me was the fact that we are creatures of habit. As captivating as James Patterson is, he is not the only crime writer around!

Anyway, if you’re interested, below is a list of the top 50 (and a bit more) authors, as well as a list of the top 250 books lent from British libraries. Check it out.
